Generalities of the PPS
Dollfus & Muller is using PPS in PPS belts for printing dryer belts. The Phenylen Sulphide (PPS) – Poly (p-phenylene sulphide) is an organic polymer composed of aromatic cycles bounded to the sulphide. The synthetical fibres and textiles coming from this polymer are known to resist to chemical and thermical attacks. The PPS is used to manufacture fabric filters for coal boilers, paper mill felts, electrical insulation, special membranes, joints and trimming. The PPS, which is insulating can be converted in semi insulating.
The Phenylen Sulphide is a high performance thermoplastic. It can be moulded, machined at high tolerances. In its pure solid form, it can be opaque, white to clear brown. The maximum using temperature is 218°C. The PPS does not dissolve at temperatures under around 200°C.
