The Dollfus & Muller aramid felts are used on Textile compactors or calendering machines in Dyeing houses. Knitted fabrics need to be pre-shrunk and stabilized in order to avoid the subsequent shrinkage of the T-shirts or polos in washing machines.
The compacting aramid felts facilitate this effect (this is why they can be called shrinking felts) and improve the fabric handle. The shrinkage required (between 2 and 10%) is mechanically given on both sides of the fabric by two consecutive endless felts using temperature (usually between 110 & 160°C / 280 & 320°F) and steam pressure.
For heat-setting processes, carried out between 180-200°C (350-400°F), Dollfus & Muller has developed heat resistant endless felts made with aramid fibres.
In some countries, the compacting felts are as well called Sanfor felts.
The Dollfus & Muller felts with their optimal compacting rate give the highest dimensional stability and excellent fabric handle.
