The aramid fibres are always located on the TOP surface of the compacting felt which is in contact with the heated drum. So the surface of the felt is in 100% aramid. 
The aramid fibres are used on the compacting felts because of their resistance to temperature and steam. 
The PTFE sheet is used on a compacting machine to help the introduction of the fabric between the felt and the hot drum. The PTFE sheet is also giving a shining effect.
The PTFE sheet should be changed once there is deterioration on it (fold, crease). These sheets are always in contact with the fabric, if the sheets are damaged, they can also damage the fabric.
