In the past, the woollen fibres helped the felt to absorb better the fats from the hides and the water, this is why mixed felts had always been very popular as sammying felts.
Today 100% synthetic felts have improved their capacity of absorbing or their drainage. The 100% synthetic felts are the most used felts and consequently what we are advising. The major sammying machine makers as Bauce, CM… use only synthetic felts originally on their machines.
